Dr. Edwards loves technology. We have always embraced technological change. We are always looking for new materials, techniques and equipment to deliver optimal dental treatment.
Dr. Edwards utilizes “Itero” digitally scanned images for the fabrication of crowns, bridges, veneers, Invisalign and many implant restorations. This eliminates the need for messy and uncomfortable impressions materials. It also provides better visualization and increased accuracy resulting in more predictable results.
Computer Assisted Anesthesia:
Dr. Edwards knows that no one enjoys dental injections. While we can’t eliminate them all, in many instances we can make it better. For lower incisors and premolars we utilize the Milestone Technology “Wand” with Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA). Unlike conventional injections, STA only numbs individual teeth, not the entire jaw. That means you can eat and speak immediately rather than waiting hours to resume your normal functions. STA works with microprocessor technology to deliver a small amount of anesthesia directly and only to the tooth involved!
Dr. Edwards carefully chooses which and when radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and analyze the health of your bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as access damage when trauma occurs. Digital x-rays require less than half of the radiation of conventional film while providing outstanding diagnostic clarity and less patient time.
Electric Dental Drills:
Dr. Edwards utilizes electric dental drills as opposed to air driven dental drills. Electric dental drills are driven with an electric motor that allows for constant torque when cutting tooth or dental materials. The advantage is that electric dental drills can cut in less time with less noise and vibration. That means less time for procedures and less time in the chair.
Dr. Edwards believes that the best way to understand treatment is to see the need for it. Intraoral cameras enable us to easily show our patients what we are seeing. We routinely show our patients photos of their teeth and gums to enable them to make informed decisions regarding their treatment.
